Locking your keys inside your car can be a stressful experience. There are a variety of different ways to retrieve your keys. If you are in danger, call 911. The police may be able to unlock your car door themselves. If they can’t, then they will find someone who can but will be at your expense. But if you’re not in danger, then just make sure that there’s no easy way to access your car, like a spare key. Some people stash a key in their wallet, or having a friend keep one for them.

If you have checked all of your doors and you still can’t get in your car, then you can call someone for help or use a tool to pick the lock on your door. Often times people tries to open the car doors with a hanger or wire, this method a bit risky and can damage the mechanics of your window. You can also call a towing service, but make sure that they have the right equipment to unlock your car.

If all methods failed, then maybe you can call roadside assistance for help getting inside your vehicle. Roadside assistance can’t guarantee that they will get you in your vehicle or services may not be 24/7. If you had no other choice, then you can call a professional Auto locksmith in your area. Professional locksmiths tend to have the fastest and more efficient methods to open a vehicle.

Here’s a list of things you can do when you accidentally lock your keys in your vehicle:

  • Check for a spare key

  • Look for any point of access by opening your car’s window, door and or even the trunk.

  • Getting locked out of your car isn’t a very nice experience, but it is something you might have to deal with someday. Knowing multiple ways of dealing with this kind of situation would be a great help for you.
